You could have headed your post as above. It's the version I
prefer!!!!!!

I'm not so sure that this matters. OFSTED (the school inspectors in the
UK) are too often failed teachers, and are often looking for the
politically correct answer.

Does it matter what we play - as long as we do?

Mind you, if I were to be back at the beginning again, I can think of
good arguments for those instruments learnt less often - as it is
therefore easier to get into groups!

I'd not change now though.

At least in England, of children taking up clarinet, girls outnumbered
boys 77% to 23%. The only more lopsided ratio was for flute, 91 to 9.
