I have read Benade's work. Give me an alternative suggestion and I will be
happy to change what I wrote. I can't come up with a better compromise,
myself. Do remember that I have to assume my audience knows *absolutely
nothing* about physics.

I wouldn't need to do any of this if I could just get everyone to read
Benade's work (and if they all had the mathematical training and scientific
training to understand it). Those are awfully big "if"s.
