I grew up in the era and ignored MTV. I've never (and much to the
frustration of my lovely wife) had any great interest in pop music.

Certainly misguided, but if we assume something is impossible we have
only
ourselves to blame when it doesn't happen.
I grew up part of the MTV generation and I attend opera. Perhaps it
isn't
so impossible...
