As far as I am aware, Orsi has been making clarinets ever since the Prof. R.
Orsi founded the company in the late 19th c.
I have regularily checked their instruments while I was still playing boehm
system and I was allways surprised how good they were. Their top model is
very subtely crafted, feels and looks nice (carbon tenons) speaks easily and
evenly, has a good intonation and a mellow, singing tone in the clarino
register. Comparably inexpensive too (the Bb used to be below 1500$, never
asked for the Ab's price).
Ripamonti, in turn, even though they make all kinds of clarinets incl.
"Mueller"system ones, low G and high Ab never quite convinced me. Besides
being crudely finished their intonation is suboptimal and the throat tones
quite stuffy.
Best wishes,
danyel

PS: if you need a really good Boehm Ab, ask Schwenck&Seggelke whether
they'll consider making a reform-Boehm "Picksuesses hoelzl" ...

I genuinely hope that this company makes good quality
instruments. The Italians have been out of the clarinet making
business for so long and it would be wonderful to have them in
the game. Clarinetists can do nothing but gain when the
competition is strong.

Somehow I get a page that says "prices" but there are no prices
on the page.

Besides Orsi, Ripamonti

makes an
Ab clarinet.
