Subj: [kl] removal of tenon socket ring

Dear list,

Is there a good technique for removing the metal ring that reinforces
the socket on the lower joint --where the upper and lower sections meet?

My first thought was to apply heat to the ring and hope the expansion
would allow it come off.... didn't work.

The Brand Bible of Inst. Repair doesn't have a word on this...and before
I damage my clarinet I seek your help,
