Man, I've gone through the Rose studies countless times over the years. =

I first went through them in High School. I hit both Rose 40 and the =
32.
When I got to college, Pete Hadcock and Eli Eban (my freshman year =
teachers)
both had me work on selected exercises again. I believe that Ken Grant, =
who
I went to my sophomore year, also had me work on a few. =20

In Grad school, they came out again. I was working with Yehuda Gilad =
again
(I worked with him in High School) and he had me go over selected etudes
again. In studio class, we also used them for his transposition =
exercises-
which were a ruthless exercise. We'd have to learn an etude and he =
would
call out transpositions as we played it in class- we were responsible =
for C
to B-flat, A to B-flat, and B-flat to A. Doing them individually wasn't =
too
bad, but switching in the middle of a phrase was pretty tough.

Now, that I don't perform as much anymore, I use them as one of the =
great
ways to get my chops back in shape when I need to perform...
