Sure. That's why I spend quite a lot of my time explaining why it's obvious
to students.

But I don't say I invented it, or bullshit about it, or claim to have it
from
some amazing lineage of American geniuses in order to justify it.

It's something that anyone can see.

Lots of these clarinet things are like that. Do you remember several people
here asked 'what happens if you dangle a piece of string down a clarinet?'

They're all asking for *permission* from some authority. And the trouble
is,
there are too many people making money by *claiming the authority to give
them that permission*.
