The quote below is incorrectly attributed to me. It is also incorrect.

Bonade studied first with Ferdinand Capelle (a student of Henri Lefebvre,
who was a student of Cyrille Rose). Bonade later studied with Lefebvre and
considered Lefebvre to be his "most important teacher".

It is often said that studying Rose with Bonade (or a Bonade student)
provides a direct link back to Rose, which may be true, but to the best of
my knowledge Bonade never studied with Rose directly. As a point of fact,
Bonade was approximately 7 years old (born 1896) when Rose died (1903).

I can highly recommend the book (where I just double checked this
information) by Carol Anne Kycia "Daniel Bonade: A Founder of the American
Style of Clarinet Playing" published by Captiva Publishing.
