OK, I started a big conversation. I would just like to add that the music and
the quality of the players should match. make it a little channeling and they
will learn to go up a step and then in the next concert go up another step.
My high school director would put all different levels of music in our folder
and we would look at everything and what the band had most fun with and was
most challenged with but he know could do it we would do it. There were some
great pieces we only looked at that I wish some of the other players would
have
cared about as much as me and another woodwind or two (Overture 1812 as one
example) the director needs to find a balance. I think that when a
performance
suffers it is the directors fault for not doing his job. Every one should
have
fun and if they are not they will go away, When you started to play music
what
was your main purpose??? I bet it wasn't to play the hardest you could and be
better then everyone else and make lots and lots of money...I bet you just
wanted to have fun...look inside yourself and never loose the fun in music
that is
why you love it...Don't stop loving what you do because you don't think
someone else is good enough to play near you...help them...help
yourself...don't
forget the love of music
