I did have a chance to play the Selmer St. Louis clarinets at the recent
ClarinetFest in Maryland, and was impressed by their playability and
intonation. In fact, they played like a well regulated R13 Buffet (a good
thing in my mind!). They are much lighter in weight than rest of the Selmer
line. Selmer is producing only a few hundred of these, according to the rep
at the 'Fest. The West Coast rep for Selmer is a good friend of mine, and
promised to get a pair of these clarinets for me to try. I'll keep the list
posted.
