The scoring is actually wind octet plus contrabassoon.

There is Edition Compusic, Amsterdam -- I don't know how you get hold of
that, as I think Compusic is now EMC. I got it from June Emerson:

The parts are rather scruffy (early computer style), and the clarinets are
only in Bb. I have Sibelius7 files of the parts in C, but I don't think
they're compatible with the PC/Mac versions of Sibelius. (I'd post hard copy
to you if necessary.)

Also, there is a much more expensive version from Ut Orpheus, which also has
only clarinet parts in Bb:

We made do with the Compusic, as the Italian version looks rather overedited.

We played it on original instruments -- in fact, we're playing the Scherzo
as an encore this Saturday. It is a bit of a blow, as Dan says; but if well
played, it has been said by quite knowledgeable members of the audience to
present an exciting and interesting vision -- a sort of X-ray, in the sense
that you hear details that you don't usually -- of the symphony. The opening
of the slow movement, on bassoons, is particularly pleasing.
