Miller insisted upon that. He did not want to be just featured in the
music scenes of his movies and then disappear (He also did "Sun Valley
Serenade" earlier). He wanted the band to be IN the movie. And he had the
horsepower to get what he wanted. "Orchestra Wives" may not be perfect,
but it is generally considered to be one of the most FAITHFUL
representations of the life of big band musicians of the era.
