Maybe I am imagining a layer of custard. But it seems to me that
the plums do not sit directly on the crust. Surely there is
something in between the plumbs and the crust and I imagined it
to have been custard. But then again, I like custard on
everything. And so that we don't confuse the matter with terms,
when I speak of custard I am talking about a creamy, thick
material made with milk or cream, eggs, sugar, flavoring, and
cooked to a thick consistency. In France it is called "Creme
Anglaise" which means English cream, but it certainly is not
cream in the sense of a liquid. It is spreadable.

Dan, I hate to say this, but having lived in Frankfurt for almost
4 decades
I have never encountered a tsvetshe-kookhe with a custard layer!
Did you
check that it was actually custard? The aboriginees in that
region use to
eat the most unlikely stuff, I'd better watch out! (Anyone tried
ebbl-voy
(local cider variety) to sterilize reeds? I am sure it could kill
any living
creature...)
Best wishes,
danyel
