Mark, you are quite right - wouldn't help with virii one bit. However,
it could kill bacteria, methinks.

I wouldn't suggest the microwave as a first thing to attempt, simply
because most home models heat unevenly anyway.

I prefer Georg's suggestion of using hydrogen peroxide (something I
couldn't think of, no matter how hard I tried) *embarrassed grin*
