By 1947 I don't think they were typically marking Low Pitch or High Pitch
any more, since all new instruments were Low Pitch. Besides, the
designation for that was always HP or LP, or possibly just H or L. The "b"
after the serial number might simply designate that the clarinet is in Bb
and not A.
