OK Mr. Dan Lesson,

Thanks to you and Mr. Keith Bowen I will never enjoy the Mozart Requiem with clarinet again! This past weekend my
colleague and I performed the piece with BASSETS! Our esteemed conductor, Guillermo Figueroa told us to burn the clarinets for this work! When he requested that we try bassets, the only reason I agreed was because of your and Keith's encouragement.

Please keep in mind that although we feel extremely lucky to have been able to use the bassets on loan from our alma mater Northwestern University, I know from first hand experience that these instruments by no means even come close to the brothers that you and Keith are lucky enough to play on!

Yet still, I'm absolutely astounded to have this new sound in my head of what Mozart really had in mind with 3 trombones, 2 trumpets, 2 bassoons, and TWO BASSETS! WOW! I'll never enjoy the Requiem with clarinets again!

Forever changed,
Lori Lovato, 2nd/Eb & Basset Clarinet
New Mexico Symphony Orchestra

BTW I'm about half-way through the Mozart Forgeries and will be quickly finishing it on the NMSO tour bus ride to Chihuahua!
