Hi Rien!
Just happen to have a score at hand. The measure in question is numbered 174
in Bärenreiter pocket score.
Fl have half note, G, G
Ob. half notes Bb, Eb
Bsn G quarter, Eb half
Horn Eb, Eb quarter, rest
cello and bass: Eb quarter, rest
All the notes of the chord are present with sounding G2 and G3 being
prominent (flutes) and Bb1 in second oboe. Playing written A1 would be
adding a third octave albeit only for a 16th but I also see no need to
improve Spohr here.
Enjoy the great piece, Rien!
Best,
David

Thanks, David. What you are saying is basically the same, but much better
founded, as what Tony Pay said, as Tony only used the piano reduction, and
this gives only Eb and G to the piano.

There was one thing I did not understand clearly in Tony's reply: Tony wrote

all the arpeggiated chords are 'complete'

I am taking a course to become assistant conductor, thus this morning I
asked my teacher what that might mean. The answer made me change my mind
about this particular point: I decided to play the c at that particular
point, and have been working some time on it this afternoon. But this way
that spot is technically more demanding, and if you have to relearn ... .
Guess tomorrow my fingers won't know better anymore.

Hope you don't mind I will not be with your concerto tomorrow. Over 700
kilometers (I estimate) is a bit distant to do, even at an early Sunday
morning, and I will have to
play Bach in church tomorrow.

Ciao

Rien
