But then there's too much third in the chord at that point. Certainly the
melody we're accompanying has a concert G at the top, and an Eb at the
bottom. I can't remember, and don't have a score to hand, whether there's a
Bb *at all* at that point in the orchestra -- the piano reduction is just Eb
and G -- but if not, we definitely need our written C, sounding Bb.

Actually, I've always liked this whole passage; and I think that's partly
because all the arpeggiated chords are 'complete' -- so, sorry, I much prefer
the C.
