Unless something has changes recently, Sovtek tubes are still made in Russia.

Funny thing is, the sound, unless driven to distortion-producing levels, is
actually LESS pure. But, as with analog vs. digital recording, some people
are simply fond of that particular type of distortion that smooths the
edges and makes things sound "warm" to them.
