There's a company called New Sensor that makes excellent replacement tubes
with the name Sovtek (originally made in the former Soviet Union, now in the
US I think), sensors, and about any other related item you might want. They
supply tubes to every major amp maker in the world. I have a friend who
keeps an old Macintosh tube power amp going because he swears the sound is
"so much more pure than transistors and solid state junk." Rich's assessment
of tube versus digital is very good.

I'll duck now after using the words 'pure' and 'sound' in the same sentence
here...
