I agree. It's practical knowledge, too, the best kind: Jim is an
excellent musician. Listening to him play some of his metal clarinets with
a blues band, Archie's Barbershop, was great fun at the Washington Folk
Festival in June (Glen Echo Park, Washington, D. C.). I especially enjoyed
Jim's chorus on "Mama Don't Allow."

I've never seen a Selmer made of solid silver, and have never seen a Selmer
advertisement for one. Jim has seen a lot more metal Selmer's than I have,
and I trust his information more than mine. Aad Overeem's earlier message
stating that he owned one was the only (apparently) positive ID of one I'd
ever seen, and that's why I cautiously referred to it as the "much rarer"
type -- but even that phrasing was an overstatement, because, between Jim's
message and Ad Overeem's later clarification, I'm now inclined to think
that the solid silver Selmer isn't rare: it's probably mythical.
