Ton, this topic has been debated so many times (without ever being
resolved) that many of us don't want to debate it again. However, it's
only fair to mention to you:

If you want to read some of the 100's (1000's?) of pages that have
already been posted on Klarinet about the effects of 'air column shape'
vs. 'material of construction' on a wind instrument's sound, you can
search the Klarinet archives for "material tone".
