We all can easily be victims of assumption. I have a silver plated Bb that was intended for use as a lamp. I decided to rebuild it out of curiosity. Since then, I have developed a real appreciation for silver instruments. Mine are silver plate, not solid. Most were designed for use as student instruments and often have a particular weakness in the stability of throat tones. However, the rare solid silver instruments were made with tremendous care. Any time you use one, it will turn heads and they always start interesting conversation.

Don't worry too much abou the silver polish... basically the maintenance is like a flute. Keep a silver cloth handy and you will be in good shape.
