Thanks for reminding me. I never played the piece but Percy told
me that he liked the sound of the Heckelphone. At the time he
said that I didn't know what one was, but I did very much like
his music and we stayed friends until he died. Then I continued
to be friends with Ella, seeing her as often as I could, until
she died. Finally, I wrote an article that was published in the
journal of band research in which I documented my several years
of friendship with Percy and Ella. I even influenced one of his
compositions!!! And on the wall of my living room I have the
John Singer Sargent (spelling) charcoal sketch of Percy signed
over to me. It's a long story.

part....wait maybe it's a bass sarrusaphone part. Oh well,
