I myself had never seen a First Act instrument of any sort in the flesh
until yesterday. What obvious trash!

It was a drum set. A child was playing with it, and he was transported
when he discovered that he could bash something in the store without his
parents complaining. The child decided (I'm not kidding) that it
sounded better when he hit it on the sides with a ruler rather than
hitting it on the drumhead. This may have saved the drumhead from
being pierced.

Someone posted here that Costco has decided to abandon selling these
instruments. Let's hope this is an example of Costco getting rid of
its unsold inventory, not an ongoing merchandising campaign.
