Give him the part and ask him to practice. He should be embarrassed to
admit having a problem; playing BC bass clarinet parts requires only the
smallest smidgen of imagination and a bit of preparation. Once he learns to
do it, he has the skill forever. Also, the Symphony has a single short
passage in TC, this needs to be played "an octave higher".

If you're in Manhattan today and free, come to the North American
Heckelphone Player's Assn meeting and concert, 1-4 pm at Riverside Church.
I'll be reading parts written in the treble, alto and bass clefs, without
even breaking a sweat.
