Whatever his set up, the thing that neither you nor I could
duplicate in any attempt to sound like him, are his head
cavities, general body shape, and chest. It goes without saying
that a great deal of sound quality is determined by physical
factors that we can control like mouthpieces, ligatures, etc.,
but the influence of the body of the player is critically
important to the sound quality also and is hardly ever spoken of
as a significant influence.

Subject: [kl] Michael Whight question...!

Recently heard a wonderful record of Michael Whight on the
Stravinsky Ebony
Concercto...very nicely played with great sound through all
registers...

Does anyone know what kind of set up this guy uses..not that it
matters but
he does have wonderful sound and a great legato!!!
