Steve Morse is the current guitarist for Deep Purple, not the bassist. Roger
Glover is the bassist. The first bass player in Purple was Nicky Simper,
replaced by Glover, then Glenn Hughes, and then Glover again (there may have
been one or two others in there).

Morse is an amazing guitarist, but many diehard fans (count me in) still
prefer Ritchie Blackmore (the original guitarist) over Morse. Alas, his
personality and tremendous ego put him into constant conflict with his
bandmates over the years.
