This recommendation certainly gets to the heart of the issue because the
bass isn't buried underneath the sound of a full band.

My daughter prides herself on being her own person. I usually have an
"old fogey" CD in the car when I pick her up at school. Even before
she has settled herself in her car seat, she switches the radio to pop
and country stations and begins surfing for 'her kind of music".

Thus if I were to buy one of the many CDs that have been recommended
here and give it to her directly, she'd feel the need to not listen to
it.

But on the other hand, a person should have some idea of what can be
accomplished, and so I'm going to buy a couple of the recommendations
that have been made here, and I'll accidentally leave them on the dining
room table. Heh! or maybe I'll leave them on her bedroom floor....
just protruding from underneath some of the debris... then they'll most
likely be listened to!
