The usual recommendation for this job is the putty that you can buy in
hardware stores that is sold for hanging pictures. It adheres well
enough to hold lightweight picture frames on the wall, but it's
removable when you want to move the picture.

Tony Pay has referred to it often under the name of "Blutak", which is
the brand name of a "blue tacky" version of this putty.

Cork grease is likely to mess up your pads.
