Another amazing Bass Player is Steve Morse (of Deep Purple). The
person who basically made that instrument what it is would be the
legendary Carol Kaye

fateful plane) among 10,000 other gigs she has done as the #1 call in
Hollywood for the Electric Bass.

For great pop and rock bass playing, try the following bands (bass
player):
Yes (Chris Squire)
Rush (Geddy Lee)
Emerson, Lake, and Palmer (Greg Lake)
Renaissance (Jon Camp)

The last, especially, may work surprisingly well for both of you. (Or
it may
work ONLY for you, and not for her!) The best album to start with is
"Live
at Carnegie Hall" - it's available on Amazon and should be available
many
other places, though may be scarce at your local CD store. Then, look
into
the other albums:
