That's not surprising. The TV is so ubiquitous that it's probably easier for
people to tune its sound out than sounds that are heard less often, like
violins.

I'm one of those heathens who doesn't much care for the sound of a single
violin, so the choice between a loud TV and a loud violin is a real Hobson's
choice for me....
