Subj: [kl] Laparoscopic appendectomy
Date: Sun, 5 Sep 2004 21:34:52 -0400

This past week my appendix decided it wanted to be removed, so I obliged it.
It just must not have wanted to play in our final Tuesday night outdoor
concert of the season. The procedure was a laparoscopic appendectomy, where
they make three small incisions and insert a camera and various implements
and subsequently remove the offending body part.

The doctor didn't seem to offer any information about how long before
attempting to play again other than the standard "don't lift more than 30
pounds until I see you in two weeks". I have orchestra rehearsal starting up
in another week, and though I should be playing trombone for that (I'll ask
on that list as well), I'm curious as to other's experiences.

Has anyone else had the same procedure, and if so, how long did you wait
before attempting to play, and also how was it, did you have any problems or
repercussions, etc?
