The simplest way to solve the B10 problem is to use the B12!

Having become STUCK with a B10, a re-pad is a good idea!

RE-PADDING A NEW HORN???? Sure! Most years I take ONE B12 and strip it and custom overhaul it, A NEW HORN!! This clarinet sits there for weeks while most people go for the cheapest. Finally one parent will ask the key question---"Will my child REALLY play a lot better on THAT clarinet?" Yup!! That kid winds up with a Morgan Protone, or, more commonly, one of my professional mouthpieces and lessons! This often happens with an adult beginner too. Needless to say, these students do FAR better than others!

Overhaul a NEW horn???? We do it to our students NEW R13's MOST of the time! We also have testing evenings, where players will sit around playing new R13's with and without the overhauls. Around here EVERYONE is CONVINCED that a clarinet off of a production line can be made to play CONSIDERABLY better!

(saxophones too.)

Thanks - how come the B10 does this and not the B12?

You are not going to be able to sort it, B10's are notorious for this
problem, that's one of the reasons Howarth do not stock them
