Could you run this note by me again? Are you saying that Wright
owned an A bass clarinet which he played in La Valse with the
BSO? And which instrument are you referring to as having been
bought from RM? Also, can I presume that RM means Rosario
Mazzeo?

Back in the mid 80s when I was studying with Harold Wright he
refered to La
Valse as being one of the finest bass clarinet parts written.

At that time he was rehearsing it with the Boston Symphony
orchestra...

In regards to the part(in La Valse) he said
"The tone of an A bass would be something ealse...if it is
anything like my
A Soprano clarinet."...or something to that effect..
Mr. Wright was of course referring to his Ralph McLane Buffet
which he
bought from RM>.

As to the whereabouts of this particular instrument I wonder if
any one out
there knows? Many friends of mine who studied with Wright are
also
wondering this as well.
