I don't think so. What Strauss wrote for was a basset horn,
never a basset clarinet. It may be that using the name "basset"
has become insufficient since two closely related instruments
include that term in their name.

But David Dow's remark that Strauss wrote for the "basset in
B-flat" is not correct if he means a basset clarinet (which I
believe he does mean since there is no such thing as a basset
horn in B-flat). I know of not a single use of the basset
clarinet by Strauss throughout his lifetime.

I also believe Richard Strauss wrote a good deal for the Basset
in Bb as
well.
