In addition to the works mentioned by Tony, there are comments in
the Mozart literature that the works for three basset horns may
also have been performed with two clarinets and one basset
clarinet, thought there is never a discussion of the keys of the
instruments. I've always presumed that either all were in A or
all in B-flat. There is also a work that I reviewed about 20
years ago for electric basset clarinet in A and piano, and I have
forgotten all about it. My remarks at the time were that the
publisher had to be brave to make available a work for which so
few instrumentalists could play it.

There are in addition several works for modern basset clarinet by
Maxwell
Davies and Birtwistle. Indeed, the very recent "Io Passions"
chamber opera
by Birtwistle, which I saw recently in London and have to say is
magnificent,
is scored for singers, actors, basset clarinet in A and string
quartet.
