An excellent trick that our vet teaches, and thank you for mentioning it.
It's the only way to force a pill Shadow Cat, though it means waking her
up, because if she sees me coming toward her with a towel shortly after a
visit to the vet, she disappears in a cloud of brimstone. Kevin and I have
search every corner of the house and then pry her out of some impossible
hiding place, where she's clearly too large to fit, but nevertheless, there
she is. She's got some supernatural means of taking on mass. Somewhere in
Colorado, a draft horse vanishes, and here in Virginia, Shadow Cat suddenly
weighs 2000 pounds. Catching her napping isn't much better, because she
wakes up all claws and teeth before I can wrap the towel all the way around
her. ("I may love you, but I'll still shred you, and your fluffy towel,
too.") So it's lucky she doesn't mind the ground-up antibiotic pill in her
food, because she needs to stay on the medicine for a total of two weeks.
The best news is that the antibiotic would be useless if she had a brain
tumor, but she's still improving, making the diagnosis of an inner ear
infection more likely.
