Nicholas - it isn't as simple as just getting a degree and suddenly
you are a Clarinet Teacher getting students. It takes literally years
to build up a teaching studio - years, not weeks. Kids fresh out of
College don't seem to realize that one. Your best hopes locally are to
be the overflow teacher for your own previous (high school) teacher if
that is possible. If that teacher fills up his studio you get the
overflow.
Guitar and Piano teachers have it easier as there are a lot more
students willing to get lessons on it and those instruments aren't
taught by a band director in the local schools.

When the local band directors think enough of your instruction (from
experience - not just because you offer to do it!!) to hand select
you as their students teacher, then you will be getting students on a
regular basis - not until then.

Why is it so difficult for clarinet teachers to build studios? I put
myself
out there in the schools and on the websites, and don't seem to get a
response. It seems as if vocal, guitar and piano teachers have it
easier.
Does anyone get this case?
