Hi Nancy,

Below are two clips from your recent posting:

"I have wooden mouthpieces on my other clarinets and love
the mellowness they lend to my clarinet sound."

"You know you are doing something right when different
conductors ask you to come back and play for them. I get calls all the time for the eefer and a little less so for the other clarinets. Coupled with a wooden mouthpiece, I think I would be in e-flat heaven."

Wouldn't these statements indicate that perhaps a wooden mouthpiece would not improve, and perhaps would be a detriment to, your playing? It seems that listeners are quite pleased with your sound on Eb, whereas you don't get quite as much acclaim for the Bb and A playing (this is all just speculative from what you said, but I'm going somewhere with it anyway. Correct me if I'm way off).

Sometimes we don't hear ourselves as well as others hear us. Maybe you actually sound "better" without the "mellowness" that the wooden mouthpieces supposedly supply.

Just a thought. I'd love to hear what you and others think.

-James
