I currently use the Mitchell Lurie Crystal on my Eb and have used the Vandoren A1 model in the past. One of the big problems on Eb is the fluctuation that can occur depending on temperature, thus effecting the pitch. Crystal helps keep at least one variable steady on the instrument. I find the Mitchell Lurie allows the reed to vibrate a little more, something I prefer. Overall, despite the MPC being VERY fragile, crystal is a very consistant material.
