There is. For a nominal service charge plus the shipping costs, almost
every supplier of off-the-shelf mouthpieces will send you several
mouthpieces/barrels and will allow you to return the ones that you don't
like.... so long as you don't leave marks on them or otherwise damage
them. In other words, you must protect them with mouthpiece patches,
guard against ligature scratches, guard against cutting into the cork if
the fit is tight, and don't leave them in the sun nor wash them in hot
water.

I am resisting the temptation to be flip and tell you, "They're for
people with tender mouths."

The majority of mouthpieces are made from hard rubber. They may look
like plastic, but they're actually hard rubber.
