Dear Audrey, Last Friday night I fell down and fractured my right wrist
and am in a lot of pain. I will explain it and send you a copy as soon
as I feel better. It is basically "do-re-mi-fa-sol-fa-mi-re do sol
do" played repetively, going around the circle of fourths, played on the
lowest notes of the clarinet going from the key of C to F to Bb to Eb to
Ab to Db to F# to B to E to A to D to G.
In our school district, all 7th and 8th graders are requirred to
stand up and play all of their scales in front of the band. They are
assigned in the same order as I listed. I found that my students
benefitted from learning the little 5 note segments, because it gave
them a chance to "work out" many of the fingerings found in the full
lenth version of scales in a fun, repetitive manner. I call it "Mommy
made me mash my M & M's they're smashed". Later I tell them that M & M
also means "Master & Memorize"
Back to lay down. ANNIE
