Bill, The pharmacy's only job is to fill prescriptions at a customer's
request if they come in with a prescription or call the pharmacy to =
refill a
prescription. If records are transferred from one pharmacy to another, =
then
it seems to be that a patient needs to sign a release of information =
before
the new company receives any type of personal information. I've never =
had a
pharmacy tell or remind ME to refill a prescription. That would clearly =
be
out of bounds. If anyone is concerned about a patient taking or not =
taking
their medication, then it is up to a patients' physician to worry about
that-NOT the pharmacy. The pharmacy, to my knowledge, holds no =
liability if
a patient does not take their medication. They are only responsible for
filling that prescription accurately and giving the patient instructions =
and
informing them of potential side effects. If something like the =
incident
Nancy described had happened to me, I would be absolutely livid. =
Christy
