Subj: [kl] [clarinet] David Baker _Duo for Clarinet and Cello_
Date: Fri, 20 Aug 2004 06:43:49 -0400

I have an open-ended question about David Baker's Duo. I recently began
working on it with a cellist and am wondering if anyone who has played
this or other Baker works can provide impressions/hints/comments that
might help me understand the work.

Due to time constraints we're only looking at the second (i.e., the
slow) movement right now. We've had one rehearsal, from which I've
gained a few ideas about what to do. However, the parts contain minimal
performance direction, and the style is not intuitively clear to either
of us.

Do any of you have illuminating insights? (David Niethamer, do you have
any comments based on your performance of the cl/pno work?)
