Hello, Everyone.

As some of you may know, I've been writing a
Series of Works featuring the Clarinet in the last
few years. Tonight I just finished the Quintuple
Fugue, which can be used as an Optional Fifth
Movement, or as a Separate "Companion Work"
to my Clarinet Quintet. Both have the same
atypical scoring in the strings, and equally shares
the String Solos among all the string players,
instead of giving all of them to the First Violinist.
(I never did like that tradition, so in all of my
chamber music, I equally share the Solo Spots
among all the players.) Anyway, here are the
timings of the movements:

"Quintet for Bb Clarinet [or Viola] and Violin,
Viola, Cello and String Bass" (April 2004, 4
mvts., 19 min.) (The Opening Theme had been
in my head and pencil sketches since the 1980's,
but I didn't actually write it down in Finale Print
until May 8, 2001, on and off until April 25,
2004.)

I Arch Form (Moderato -
Allegro - Moderato) 5' 40"
II Scherzo: Vivace birichinoso
(quickly mischievously) 3' 05"
III Aria: Adagio 4' 40"
IV Rondo: Moderato 5' 35"
total time: 19' 00"

Optional 5th Movement (or
more likely a "Companion Work"):

According to my research, there have only been
4 or 5 Quintuple Fugues written in all known
history, and only by these two composers:
Hilmar Luckhardt (1913-1984)
Kaikhosru Shapurji Sorabji (1892-1988)

It will probably take me a month to do all the
Editing and printing to get the Score and Parts
of both my Clarinet Quintet and the Quintuple
Fugue ready to mail to the Dedicatee, Professor
Joze Kotar in Ljubljana Slovenia. Only after he
has given the Live Performance and First
Recording, will these works be released to other
clarinetists to perform, which, in all practicality
will probably be a year from now.

After that, all I have to do is finish the Clarinet
Concerto, and my Clarinet Series will be complete.
I've already begun ideas for Double Reeds as my
next Series of Works.

For now I've got to get back to the work on a
Concertino for Tuba and Woodwind Quintet, set
to a Children's Story, which I am also writing.
