Ken, I have taken inderal for migraine prevention but it never had the
desired effect for me. It just knocked me out and made me feel like a =
slug.
Everyone does react to medications differently but I'm very aware of the
problems certain drugs can cause for those who may have undiagnosed
illnesses. My son has bipolar disorder and was initially misdiagnosed =
with
ADHD and anxiety disorder. The doctors prescribed stimulant and
antidepressant medication which sent him over the edge, so to speak. =
This
is a typical reaction to those classes of medications for those with =
bipolar
disorder. Cortisone will also cause problems for anyone taking lithium, =
for
example and so will Ibuprofen by lowering the lithium levels.
An alternative to try for a calming effect would be over the =
counter
Benadryl. Benadryl contains diphenhydramine, which has an anti-anxiety
effect in many. However, there are those who experience a paradoxical
reaction and become very hyperactive on Benadryl. I suggest that anyone
taking ANY type of medication, prescribed or over-the-counter, =
thoroughly
check the drug's potential reactions with other medications and herbs, =
as
well as potential side effects. I've found that one cannot leave this
responsibility completely up to your physician. You must know what to =
be
aware of and to watch for when taking any new medication. =
