I don't think that we are there yet. The b.c. in A (in fact, the
clarinet in A) is built to help the clarinetist when the key for
B-flat clarinet has a lot of sharps. It is not designed to
provide a key with a lot of sharps.

Example. Concert pitch: D major. Clarinet in B-flat pitch: E
major (yuck! sharps). Clarinet in A pitch: F major (Ahhh!)

Just a further question on the usefulness of the A bass clarinet
in the band. I can see the use of the Ab clarinet, and indeed
any instrument in the flat keys, but to put an instrument that is
more comfortable in the sharp keys just sounds counter intuitive
to the norm. Is there any other info about that? It sounds
fascinating. Perhaps a band piece for D, A clarinets as well?
