Hi Christy,

As a matter of fact, when I got home I did try a rubber band, mainly
because it occurred to me that I might have spent money on something that
worked the same as a rubber band. The Bois ligature allows a certain
"ring" (no pun intended) and clarity that isn't present with the rubber
band. And the character of the "ring" can be changed by angling the Bois
differently. I still like the articulation of the Super Revelation better,
but the difference between the two ligatures as far as overall sound
production is quite large. I would rather give up the slight articulation
advantage for the clean, clear sound of the Bois. And the Bois id a great
looking ligature, especially if one is using Backun barrels and bells.

BTW, I have given my Buffet R-13s (circa 1968) to Morrie to have
rebuilt. He says he can make them light enough for me to play again and
that they will sound just super. When I get them back I will let the list
know how they stack up to the Wurlitzers that I played at Fest. If they
come anywhere close, having your clarinets "Backun-ed" (or Morrie-fied) may
just be the biggest bargain in clarinetdom. We are talking thousands of
dollars in savings here.
