I should think that a repair person could find a 'compromise'

First, one must find a repair person. Then one must take the clarinet in
for a week (or more), since repairs "aren't done in the shop" and chances
are, when it comes back, nothing will have been done with the thing, except
for the bill that has been made out to the customer. My own repair
technician is fantastic, but he doesn't work on student instruments.
By the way, I tried the rubber band thing with my clarinet mouthpiece
yesterday and it worked "OK" for me but I know my students may have more
trouble with this. Christy
